Comedy which imagines Austen’s incomplete novel is finished by a playwright disguised as a maid.
The Watsons is the abandoned novel by Jane Austen which tells the story of a poor but smart young woman in Surrey society. In this metatheatrical comedy, playwright Laura Wade seeks to finish the novel and put things right. Following successful runs at the Menier Chocolate Factory and Chichester Festival Theatre, “The Watsons” transfers to London’s West End.
