Sonny is a twelve-year-old boy living with a stammer, trying to find his way in a world dominated by speech. His only friend is Captain Chatter, an imaginary comic book hero he created, but in the real world, Sonny must find a way to be heard. When he's cast in the school production of Hamlet, he finds the real heroes are closer than he thinks.

Olivier Award-winner Sally Cookson ('A Monster Calls') directs the Bristol Old Vic's production of 'WONDER BOY', which was the recipient of the 2023 Writers’ Guild Award for Best Play.
