A world premiere by Sophia Chetin-Leuner, directed by Josie Rourke, starring Ambika Mod.
Ani is a brilliant young academic whose lectures on Paradise Lost contrast starkly with her private life. Struggling with a secret addiction to violent pornography, she finds her career and relationships spiraling out of control. As she teeters between self-destruction and self-awareness, the play explores the tension between intellect and impulse with sharp humor and unsettling honesty.
This world premiere marks the Royal Court debut of playwright Sophia Chetin-Leuner (This Might Not Be It). The production is helmed by Josie Rourke, former Artistic Director of the Donmar Warehouse and Bush Theatre, known for her work on Les Liaisons Dangereuses and Mary Queen of Scots.
Ambika Mod (One Day, This Is Going to Hurt) takes the lead role, bringing her acclaimed depth and nuance to the character of Ani. Under Rourke’s direction, the play navigates dark themes with precision and wit, making for a striking addition to the Royal Court’s slate of bold new work.
