Samia Rida, an actor and writer, has been involved with the BBC Writersroom and the WFTV Mentoring Scheme, and has appeared in Sky's Breeders and Netflix/BBC's Rebel Cheer Squad. Her writing has been optioned by Fulwell and Vox Pictures. Her one-woman show, a comedy/drama, is based on the true story of her childhood abduction to Saudi Arabia.
It delves into themes such as multiculturalism, disability, trauma, Saudi culture, mental health, and the unusual involvement of a swimming pool in her kidnapping. Her show is supported by Sibs, a charity aiding siblings of disabled individuals.
