A powerful tale of resilience and choice, set in 1962 Australia, inspired by true events.
Set in Sydney, Australia, in 1962, Inferna follows 15-year-old Calynn Turner, who finds herself pregnant and sent to a church-run maternity asylum by her deeply religious mother. Stripped of control over her own body, Calynn must navigate the challenges of a system that denies her a voice. This poignant play delves into themes of bodily autonomy and resilience, celebrating the strength of survivors in a world where the right to choose remains under threat. Inspired by true events, Inferna makes its world premiere at Riverside Studios, brought to life by Small Beer Theatre Company after a sold-out reading at the Alma Theatre in Bristol.
