Follow the Signs is a fully BSL-led hip-hop gig theatre show, blending BSL, rap, spoken English, movement, and creative captioning. This unique performance is designed to be shared and celebrated by both Deaf and hearing audiences. The show tells the inspiring story of Chris Fonseca, a Deaf dancer and choreographer, who lost his hearing due to meningitis at the age of two. Despite growing up in a school system that didn’t appreciate his differences, Chris found solace in music and dance during his teenage years. The narrative also introduces Raffie Julien, a mixed-race Deaf woman, whose life experiences both contrast and intersect with Chris’s. Follow the Signs celebrates identity and hope, showing how personal struggles can lead to powerful self-discovery and expression.
