An Olivier Award-nominated musical about a teenager with dreams of becoming a drag queen.
Inspired by a true story, 'Everybody's Talking About Jamie' follows 16-year-old schoolboy, Jamie New. Jamie lives on a council estate in Sheffield and doesn't quite fit in, but he has big dreams of becoming a drag performer. He causes a stir among his classmates, their parents, and his family with his drag debut, and his plan to attend his end-of-year prom in a dress.
Inspired by the 2011 BBC documentary 'Jamie: Drag Queen at 16', 'Everybody's Talking About Jamie' opened at the Crucible Sheffield in February 2017, before transferring to the West End in November 2017. The show was subsequently adapted into a movie starring Richard E. Grant, which was released in 2021.
The show - with music by Dan Gillespie Sells and book & lyrics by Tom McRae - won the 2018 WhatsOnStage award for Best New Musical and was nominated for 5 Olivier Awards.
This production is recommended for ages 12+.
