A hilarious queer musical about smashing norms, gothic pride, and finding your monster identity.
Count Dykula, a butch loner vampire, is perfectly content with her undead existence. Her gothic castle is a dream, and she enjoys preying on unsuspecting humans wandering near the local Asda. But her peace is disrupted when Scare University, a cultural juggernaut, begins promoting “the right way to be a monster.” The ideal vampire—a hyper-feminine, ultra-busty bloodsucker—is worlds away from Dykula’s style.
Determined to fight back, she takes on Scare U’s human-normative agenda with her masculine pride hanging by a thread. After all, she loves garlic naan and only manages to transform into a bat after a few beers. Packed with fake blood, exaggerated busts, and real bats, Count Dykula is Airlock Theatre’s third wildly queer musical. From the creators of Lesbian Space Crime and Pansexual Pregnant Piracy, this laugh-out-loud goth extravaganza is as campy as it is revolutionary.
