A site-specific theatrical journey through Sunny's Bar's rich history in Red Hook, Brooklyn.
At the end of Conover Street in Red Hook, Brooklyn, stands Sunny's, a historic bar run by one family for over a century. It has weathered prohibition, economic changes, and natural disasters, serving as a haven for a diverse community including dreamers, artists, immigrants, and more. Playwright Sarah Gancher and director/designer Jared Mezzocchi, both Obie Award winners, present The Wind and The Rain, a site-specific theater experience. This production, produced by En Garde Arts in partnership with Vineyard Theatre, uses advanced design technology to explore the past and present of Red Hook, starting at the Waterfront Barge Museum and concluding at Sunny's Bar. It immerses audiences in the history of the neighborhood, the bar, and the powerful forces that have shaped them.
