New York Black Arts presents a family-friendly revival of the Tony-winning musical, an all-African-American re-imagining of 'The Wizard of Oz.'
Dorothy and her dog Toto are swept up in a tornado, sending them far from Kansas to the Land of Oz. She heads to the Emerald City to ask the Wizard for help getting home. Along the way, she makes new friends–the Scarecrow, the Tin Man, and the Cowardly Lion–who join her journey. But they'll have to get past Evillene and her menacing monkeys, and awaken Oz to make their wishes come true. This interactive revival celebrates the Afrocentric style of the original 1975 Broadway musical for audiences of all ages.
