i am a slow tide (est. 2018) is a collection of performance and media that activates alternative pathways for considering the world around us. In The Gold Room, two men pursue intimacy while slipping from identity to identity, relationship to relationship, room to room. The show interrogates what it is like to expose oneself to another in pursuit of a relationship, but open yourself up to violence, invasion, and disapproval in the process.

ultimately, The Gold Room comes off something of an exercise, a set of variations on a theme almost necessarily limited to a certain audience sector, it is nevertheless a fine calling card for a gifted writer possessed of an inquiring mind and a knack for dialogue that splits a situation wide open. Add Jacob Perkins to your list of playwrights to watch out for.
