Ain recalls a pivotal dinner with Sue, Josh, & a mysterious guest, framing their story.
Ain Gordon and Josh Quillen creatively revisit the tumultuous 3-year journey post-Jerry's ALS diagnosis in 2006. They draw inspiration from three significant artifacts. Initially, they interviewed Josh's mother, Sue, in 2019, capturing her caregiving perspective. This interview becomes the cornerstone of their work, with Ain embodying Sue and Josh representing himself.
Furthermore, Sue entrusted them with Jerry's journal, which outlines the progression of his illness. Additionally, Jerry curated a 17-track playlist, transformed by Josh and Ain into 17 unique sound episodes. These components form the backbone of their narrative, interwoven with Ain's reminiscences of a crucial dinner at Josh's childhood home, where an unexpected guest altered their lives.
