Three witches predict Macbeth's kingship. Driven by his wife, he kills for the throne, causing a civil war.
Macbeth is a tragedy about a soldier whose overwhelming ambition and desire for power lead him to abandon his morals, nearly destroying the kingdom he wants to rule. Initially, the conflict is internal, as Macbeth debates whether to seize power violently, and between him and Lady Macbeth, who urges him to take action despite his hesitation.
Once Macbeth succumbs to his ambition, the conflict changes. It then focuses on Macbeth's struggles with other characters, especially Banquo and Macduff, who challenge his authority. Macbeth is the protagonist as the main focus of the narrative, often providing his point of view. However, since he acts against his own and others' best interests, he is also the antagonist. The characters who oppose and ultimately defeat Macbeth aim to restore order and justice.
