A powerful performance is exploring U.S. Supreme Court rulings and Sanchez's Indigenous identity journey.
In the Court of the Conqueror is a multimedia performance exploring over 200 years of U.S. Supreme Court rulings that have undermined Native Nations' tribal sovereignty. Created by Sanchez, the piece weaves his journey of Indigenous identity, shaped by his upbringing in an Ecuadorian immigrant household. Through research, including a Masters in Legal Studies in Indigenous Peoples Law, Sanchez highlights historical injustices.
Visual artist Patty Ortiz contributes a three-screen visual narrative, developed through extensive travel and research. Premiering at Abrons Arts Center in 2022, it has toured multiple states and will be presented at the Moss Art Center in 2025.
