On Midsummer's Eve, an odd assortment of guests gather and are told not to venture into the woods that magically appear. A philanderer, his young wife, an artist, a delightful old couple, and an indolent lady neglect the warning and find their desires fulfilled within, yet deal with unforeseen consequences when they return to reality.
