In 1965, an unlikely group joins MLK's Selma march, facing challenges and uncovering secrets.
In March 1965, a Buick Electra embarks on a journey from New Jersey carrying an unexpected group: Rose, the recently widowed owner of the car; Mary, her housekeeper; Terrance, her handyman; and Dawn, a teenager and Mary's daughter. Dawn persuades them to join Dr. Martin Luther King's Selma march. Amidst a country openly hostile to its Black and Jewish citizens, they journey with hope and trepidation. Confronting violence and unveiling life-changing truths, they aim to return home with a renewed perception of family. While reflecting on our complex past, the play also challenges us to consider the future of our nation.
