"Under Pomerantz's direction, the production moves rather swiftly, but this is often to the detriment of the devastating emotional effect the play generally proffers. The actors (three of whom appear in both plays), except for Brown as Irina, have not yet fully embodied these characters to reveal the accumulated layers of delusion, perfidy, and existential despair. Ideally, there will be more psychological discomfort for the audience as the actors become more comfortable in their roles."

While this is not an in-depth interpretation and at times seems a bit superficial, Will Pomerantz’s production of Three Sisters is a true ensemble making it appear that these people have lived together for years. His new adaptation in contemporary idiom is easy on the ears and easy to comprehend. The pacing of the production is always on the move which is saying a good deal when it comes to Three Sisters which is often performed in a glacial style to mirror the characters’ boredom and disappointments. Here the characters complain about their fate but get on with their lives.

"The production does admirably pick up after the intermission, and the actors are able to convey some of the play’s emotional complexity, longing, and heartbreak, but it’s never quite clear what the purported fresh look at the play is supposed to be exactly. On a literal level, the story is ably told: if this is someone’s first production of 'Three Sisters,' everything will be clear, except perhaps why others keep eagerly returning to this play."
