In a neglected city park with a single tree, a broken fountain, and too much litter, five neighborhood kids clash over its future. Their differences take on new urgency when they learn a developer plans to replace the park with a parking garage. Just as hope seems lost, a wise parakeet unexpectedly nests in the tree—and starts talking. As the kids listen, they must find a way to work together to protect their green space.
