David Finnigan traces moments to our climate crisis, blending history with personal tales.
In late 2019, while in the English countryside, Australian playwright David Finnigan began crafting a play about six pivotal moments that have led to our current environmental crisis. However, as he wrote, his hometown of Canberra was engulfed by bushfires.
The fires, which ravaged an area the size of England and killed a billion animals, forced his loved ones to flee. Finnigan's performance weaves together 75,000 years of human history, scientific research, phone footage, and his best friend’s harrowing escape to highlight the dire state of our planet.
Despite the grave topic, the play is infused with humor and hope.
