"Listening to Mr. Greenspan read Stein’s words gives them a buoyancy and, yes, lucidity that lets them dance happily inside your head...By putting accents here and there, and using small gestures to mark recurring phrases, Mr. Greenspan supplies punctuation that Stein disdained, creating his own rhythms for the words, rhythms that turn what on paper can feel leaden into light, almost Mozartean music."
