"It was clear that 'Because Me' made sense to Baker and only Baker. By directing his own work, what was on the page did not translate to the stage. Baker was in desperate need of a collaborator to fix the problems...'Because Me' was problematic from start to finish. It's possible that 'Because Me' was not ready for this level of production."

"Alice Johnson does an excellent job in the challenging role of Else…Max Baker, who wrote and directed the work, has a remarkable talent for writing believable dialogue. All of the characters in Else’s life are clearly individuals, each with his or her own voice...For the most part the production moves along smoothly. The only exception being some non-sequiturs thrown in which tend to distract from the story line."
