A convicted criminal is given the chance to reunite with an old flame to make amends.
After perpetrating a heinous crime, Leroy is granted one last wish: an opportunity to make amends with his long-lost lover Berta. Their reunion grows from a contentious conjuring of the past to a desperate plea to escape their impending fate.
This play is inspired by the prison chain gang song “Berta, Berta,” which was created at Parchman Farm, the Mississippi State Penitentiary.
