F. Scott Fitzgerald’s tale of longing and luxury gets a jazz-pop Broadway staging by Marc Bruni.
Set in the summer of 1922, The Great Gatsby follows the enigmatic millionaire Jay Gatsby and his obsessive pursuit of Daisy Buchanan amid the opulence of Long Island’s North Shore. Narrated by Nick Carraway, a newcomer drawn into Gatsby’s glittering world, the story unravels themes of ambition, illusion, and the elusive promise of the American Dream. As secrets surface beneath the champagne and jazz, Gatsby’s longing comes at a cost that reverberates through all who orbit him.
This new Broadway musical adaptation is directed by Marc Bruni (Beautiful: The Carole King Musical) and features choreography by Dominique Kelley (So You Think You Can Dance). The book is by Kait Kerrigan (The Mad Ones), with an original jazz- and pop-influenced score by Jason Howland (Little Women the Musical) and Nathan Tysen (Paradise Square). Together, the creative team brings a fresh musical lens to one of the most iconic novels of the 20th century.
Produced by Chunsoo Shin, president of OD Company and a five-time winner of Korea’s most prestigious theatrical award, this staging of The Great Gatsby brings theatrical spectacle to Fitzgerald’s world of roaring parties and quiet heartbreak. The production marks the first major Broadway musical adaptation of the classic story in over two decades.
